Available to citizens of Pakistan, the UNSW Canberra and Pakistan Higher Education Commission (HEC) Joint Scholarship allows high-quality Pakistani students to undertake PhD and research degrees at UNSW Canberra.  


The scholarship program covers tuition fees, a living allowance, and a return international airfare to Sydney or Canberra for up to a maximum of 48 months. This scholarship is only available to PhD applicants who plan to commence their studies at UNSW Canberra in Term 1 and Term 3. In order to qualify for this scholarship, you must be awarded a UNSW Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS).

Please note that the School of Business considers only students in the final year of their Master's degree, and because of the special demands of Social Science research, English requirements are high. We strongly recommend that you review the eligibility criteria on the HEC Pakistan website
 

Benefits

HEC will provide: 

  • an annual living allowance; and 
  • one international return airfare by the most economical route. 

In addition, UNSW Canberra will provide (for up to a maximum of 4 years): 

  • a supplementary (top up) living allowance (stipend) of $7,592 per annum for up to 15 HEC sponsored PhD students  
     

How to apply

  1. Complete the UNSW Self-Assessment Tool to assess whether you are eligible for a Scholarship. For information on how to use this Tool, please download the User Guide.  
  2. Be assessed for shortlisting with Higher Education Commission, Pakistan 
  3. Apply to UNSW Canberra for Admission and a UNSW-HEC Scholarship prior to the March release round deadline, and select your preferred scholarship round from the drop-down menu. Upload the UNSW Self-Assessment Tool outcome to your application along with all other required supporting documents.  
  4. If you receive an unconditional offer of admission and scholarship from UNSW, complete a HEC application
  5. Submit your HEC provisional offer letter to UNSW Canberra as soon as it is available.
