This collection relates to writer and artist Silvana Gardner and includes nine coloured proofs of ‘The rainbow cats’ (a children’s book published in 1993 as The rainbow cat), correspondence, a travel diary recording inspiration for A painter of icons and a manuscript draft for The devil in nature (both poetry works), a small press item A honeycomb of music by David Ward, and material relating to literary competitions, creative writing in schools and writers workshops

Poet, writer, and visual artist Silvana Gardner was born in Zadar, Croatia in 1942, and gained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland in Fine Arts, History and English Literature. Her first published poem appeared in an anthology of Australian women poets in 1975. As well as publishing numerous works of poetry and two children’s books, Gardner’s works have been widely represented in Australian and international anthologies, and she has been extensively involved with creative writing workshops, festivals, and arts in the community. As a visual artist, Gardner has had works represented in major collections in America, Canada, and Australia
