Damien Francis Broderick was born in Melbourne, Victoria on 22 April 1944. He graduated with a B.A. from Monash University in 1966, and received a Ph.D. from Deakin University in 1989. He has been awarded many fellowships and writing grants and was Writer-in-residence at Deakin University in 1986. His work has been widely published and anthologised in Australian and overseas publications and adapted for radio.
Damien Broderick is a novelist, editor, reviewer and Associate of the Department of English and Cultural Studies at the University of Melbourne. He is best known for his science fiction novels and short stories for children, young adults and adults. He has also written several non-fiction books on post-structuralist theory and the scientific realist world view.
